A motor is the heart of every pump, compressor and machine – and the Schneider Electric TeSys LRD thermal overload relay is the guard that keeps it alive. When the motor draws more current than its rating because of overload, a jammed shaft, low voltage or a missing phase, the bimetallic elements inside the relay heat up and trip the contactor coil before the motor winding burns. Overload Relay Selection Guide

Read the full-load current (FLC) on your motor nameplate and choose the range where the FLC falls near the middle. Typical 415V three-phase motors: 1HP ≈ 1.8A (LRD07), 2HP ≈ 3.2A (LRD08), 3HP ≈ 4.8A (LRD10), 5HP ≈ 7.5A (LRD12/LRD14), 7.5HP ≈ 11A (LRD16), 10HP ≈ 14A (LRD21), 15HP ≈ 21A (LRD22), 20HP ≈ 28A (LRD32), 25HP ≈ 35A (LRD35), 30HP ≈ 42A (LRD3357), 40HP ≈ 55A (LRD3359), 50HP ≈ 68A (LRD3361/63), 60–75HP (LRD4365/67). For star-delta starters, set the relay to FLC ÷ 1.73 (58%) because it sits in the phase winding circuit.

Q: Does the LRD relay protect against single phasing?
A: Yes. TeSys LRD relays have a differential mechanism that trips faster when one phase is missing.

Q: Which contactor does it fit?
A: LRD01–LRD35 fit LC1D09–LC1D38; LRD3xxx fits LC1D40A–LC1D65A (and LC1D80/95); LRD43xx fits LC1D115/150.

Q: What is the difference between manual and auto reset?
